Hamilton Member of the Month for March 2025 - Diana Lima
Tell us about yourself!
I am a wife and a mother of a 7-year-old kid. I have a background in Finance with relevant experience in Treasury Management. Me and my family moved recently from Mexico to Hamilton, which has signified a drastic change in our lifestyle. I consider myself an adventurous person that is always excited about change and new challenges in my personal and professional life.
What got you into CrossFit?
I have always been aware of the importance of exercising for mental and physical health, reason why I've practiced athletics, Pilates, spinning, etc. A good friend invited me to a new gym in my home country and a couple of classes were enough to make me a CrossFit fan.
What do you like about Alchemy?
First, I have amazing coaches, always caring about people, giving advice when needed, and offering options to make the wod's accessible for all. Also, I'm impressed with the community that Alchemy has created, so that everyone feels like they are appreciated. It’s not only about working out, it’s also about looking around and see what else could be done in benefit of others like donation events, recycling campaigns, etc.
What has been your proudest moment at Alchemy?
I think this is whenever I beat any of my previous PR. I realized that my oldest PR's are from more than 10 years ago, before having my kid, so being able to improve those marks is fantastic!
What are your CrossFit goals for the future?
My main goal is to get my upper body stronger, specifically my arms. I consider that having stronger arms will help me to do movements that right now I can only perform in a limited way or in less complicated versions.
In addition, I would like to get better in gymnastics, and I would love to do my first muscle up hehe but this time, I also want to focus on my nutrition to accomplish these goals. I am dedicated when it comes to training sessions, but I still have to work on my habits.
If you could design the perfect workout, what would it include?
I would include either burpees or running, and some thrusters, I love the workouts where the cardio is an important part.
What's the biggest change you've seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
Probably the biggest change is related to physical resistance. I am able to perform my regular activities with high energy even after having a though training class.
When you're not at the gym, what's your favourite thing to do?
Going for a long walk in nature is on my top, so we are always trying to find new places to visit in the surrounding area. Having a kid also gives us a variety of activities that are fun and that we enjoy together as playing sports in the park or going to the cinema.
What’s your favourite local Hamilton food spot?
My favourite spot is West Town in Locke Street. The food, the beer, and the ambience make this place the perfect place for sharing moments with friends and family.
