Tell us about yourself!
I was born and raised in Hamilton. I’ve been married for over 22 years and have 2 fantastic kids. I have owned and operated my own small business over 20 years–Kativa Salon & Spa in Burlington. You can find me at Alchemy three days a week at a 6 AM class. I have also joined this year’s Nutrition Challenge.
What got you into CrossFit?
I was referred by a friend. That was the first time I heard about Alchemy. I was totally inspired by the results that I was seeing in my friend, so I thought I’d give CrossFit a try. I joined last April just at the tail end of Covid.
What do you like about Alchemy?
I thought I joined a tiny little gym on Locke Street and was nervous starting at the new location. I soon came to realize that Alchemy Fitness was actually a super power house on Frid Street–full of members of all ages. I’m really proud to be part of this community, and with the excellent coaches I have always felt welcome and right at home. I love that every class is different and it’s not just a workout, it helps with stretching, mobility and strength training. Alchemy has it all!!
What has been your proudest moment at Alchemy?
I’m proud of myself for actually wanting to wake up early and come to the gym!
What are your CrossFit goals for the future?
I look forward to continuing to push myself and maybe one day I’ll see my name written on the wall!
If you could design the perfect workout, what would it include?
A perfect workout for me would always include bench press.
What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
I’ve definitely noticed an increase in my strength especially doing day-to-day tasks.
When you’re not at the gym, what’s your favourite thing to do?
When I’m not at the gym, I enjoy spending time at my hair salon–Kativa Salon and Spa.
What’s your favourite local Hamilton food spot?
Tony’s Corner for Greek food.
