Tell us about yourself!
I am a sales rep. for a distribution company in Waterdown, which sells quality control testing equipment to the construction industry. I’ve been with the company for over 30 years, starting as a service technician and transitioning over to sales. I’ve travelled throughout Canada and the U.S. growing our customer base. I have 2 adult kids who I am very proud of. I’m currently working on a 5 year plan for retirement (which includes a beach somewhere in the world!)
What got you into CrossFit?
I was finding as I got older it was harder for me to keep the weight off, even though I was playing hockey three times per week. I had always wanted to try CrossFit and once I did my first class I knew it was exactly what I was looking for: high intensity workouts.
What do you like about Alchemy?
The vibe: as soon as I walked in for the first time I could feel this place had a great atmosphere. You could feel the energy. The coaching staff all have a great sense of humour which is so important these days.
What has been your proudest moment at Alchemy?
Losing about 30lbs since Covid!
What are your CrossFit goals for the future?
Start pushing myself a little more, increase weight on the bar, and do 1 perfect pull-up.
If you could design the perfect workout, what would it include?
AMRAP 16 minutes: 6 pull-ups, 9 deadlifts, 18 calories on the assault bike, 36 wall balls.
What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
My overall level of fitness has improved and I have more energy during the day. My sleep has also improved tremendously.
When you’re not at the gym, what’s your favourite thing to do?
I like to keep active. I play hockey 2-3 times per week and enjoy cooking and watching movies
What’s your favourite local Hamilton food spot?
The Express Restaurant in Westdale.
