Tell us about yourself!
I’m Jacquie. I am a transplant from BC and an alum of Simon Fraser (Go Clansmen!); Mac (Go Maunders!) and SUNY Buffalo (Go Bulls!) I have two amazing but teenagery kids who are both love hockey in a major way (Fly Hawks! Go Sabres Go!)-so yes, I don’t know what weekends are in the winter. I am the mum to the best dog on the planet (Bertie). I am super goofball and a former fitness/Zumba instructor. My favourite things to do are baking, crafting, knitting, adventuring, and coffee.

What got you into CrossFit?
I started going to Alchemy because of peer pressure (haha.) It’s all Stephany’s fault–she asked me to join and I did. I’ve kept going because it’s so fun!
What do you like about Alchemy?
The community, support for the coaches and other members, and the welcoming, accepting atmosphere.
What has been your proudest moment at Alchemy?
Getting my first wall walk.
What are your CrossFit goals for the future?
I enjoy the community so much at Alchemy so I’d like to take part in an event with a partner or team.
If you could design the perfect workout, what would it include?
Variety and interactions! I love workouts that keep me guessing and keep challenging me. I’ve loved the ones that included “mini games” with a partner or team. I’d love a work out with a dance component.
What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
I’ve definitely noticed an increase in strength.
When you’re not at the gym, what’s your favourite thing to do?
Paddle boarding, hiking with my dog, baking, crafts…I’ve always got something on the go.
What’s your favourite local Hamilton food spot?
Undefined–I love brunch!
