What got you into CrossFit?
After varsity sports came to an end, I needed something that could scratch my competitive itch and keep me moving. I stumbled into Auxillary Fitness in Toronto, and met some really cool people of the same mindset (and same story) – Safe to say that scratch was itched.
What have you loved about Alchemy?
I really love the programming – I spent a few years programming for myself and it’s really freaking hard to do. I don’t think a lot of people realize how much work and talent goes into the workouts that are on the board every day. Everything we do is focused, has a goal and is really fun. I think our coaches do a really great job with the programming.
What has been your proudest Alchemy moment to date?
I have had a lot of ups and downs at Alchemy, but I think the one that stands out the most to me is my 2k row. There wasn’t anything fancy about it – just put your head down and blackout. And blackout I did.
What are your CrossFit goals for the future?

If you could design the perfect workout, what would it include?
Something wildly simple but wildly hard. Something that puts your heart in your chest and makes you taste pennies. Maybe max cals in 1 minute on the bike. Or Fran. Fran is good too.
What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
Everything outside of the gym is really easy compared to a deathly workout. Got chores to do? Can’t be worse than Murph. Stuff to do at work? Kelly is worse.
When you’re not at the gym, what’s your favourite thing to do?
I play a lot of sports still. Volleyball, baseball, hockey, etc. And when I’m not doing that, I am watching sports. So…. sports.
What’s your favourite local Brantford food spot?
As the future mayor of Paris, I refuse to answer this. But I will tell you that Redneck Tacos from Camp 31 in Paris are the best thing you will ever eat.
