Make S.M.A.R.T Goals for Wicked Results
Vague goals garner lacklustre results. Don’t make the mistake of being vague when it comes to deciding what you want in 2017, be S.M.A.R.T.
That means be:
Specific: Goals should be specific not general. For example, don’t say “I want to lose weight”’ Or “I want to lose 10lbs.” That’s too broad. Outline the changes you need to make to shed excess weight. Say, ‘I’m going to stop eating processed foods and empty calories and start fuelling my body wisely.” If you want help with establishing a plan of attack, send us an email info@marct15.sg-host.com.
Measurable: Make the goal quantifiable. Saying “I want to get better at doing pull-ups,” or “I want to run faster,” is too abstract. Instead, say “I want to be able to perform 10 unbroken strict pull-ups,” or “I want to shave 15 seconds off my 200m sprint.” The next step is to formulate a strategy for making that very real goal an inevitability.
Accountable: Write your plan down and then tell someone what you want to get done and why. It can be a friend, a colleague, or a coach at Alchemy. There is no better motivation for success then having someone hold you to account. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice either.
Realistic: Make sure you’re aiming to do something that can be done by you in your lifetime. Saying you want to perform a 800-lb back squat in a month when your PR is currently at 135lb isn’t goal-setting but rather day-dreaming.
Time: Your goal needs a beginning, middle and end, so make it happen within a specific time frame. Another bonus of working ‘under the clock’? You know precisely when to move on to a new goal.
