Coach Spotlight: Coach Kristin

When did you start CrossFit and why did it appeal to you?
I originally got I to CrossFit in 2007. It was like nothing I had ever seen before! It was exciting and different and completely changed my relationship with fitness!

Did you do any sports or recreation before or during CrossFit?
I grew up doing dance and karate. I got into running and aerobics in high school which was a gateway to weightlifting/body building.

What are your current health and fitness goals?
Mostly I just want to move well and pain-free. I enjoy exploring movement and testing my limits. I want to set the foundation to do this far into my old age.

What’s your favourite CrossFit workout?
I have always enjoyed “Nancy” and “Diane”.

Outside of CrossFit, what are we likely to find you doing?
I love to explore unconventional training tools. I spend a lot of time working with my steel mace, clubs, kettlebells, sandbags, Bulgarian bags, suspension training and animal flow. I am always looking for new ways to explore movement. I also really love hiking with my dogs, reading, and family time.

Favourite Alchemy moment?
Experiencing this past CrossFit Open through the filter of the Alchemy community was like nothing else. I am so lucky to be a part of this amazing family.

If you were a superhero, what powers would you want to have?
Flying obviously, super strength and regeneration would come in at a close second.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Chicken salad. It sounds lame…but I make a killer salad.
