Coach Spotlight: Brian Porter

When did you start Crossfit and why did it appeal to you?

I started CrossFit in 2014 after entering into tough mudder. At the time I was regularly going to good life and was bored of the same old same old. The variety and intensity of CrossFit appealed to me and it didn’t disappoint!

Did you do any sports or recreation before or during CrossFit? 

I played hockey as a kid, and intramural ball hockey and volleyball throughout high school and university. 

What are your current health and fitness goals?

My current goal is to be fitter at 40 than I was at 30

What’s your favourite crossfit workout?

My fave WOD is “The Seven” 

  • 7 Rounds For Time
  • 7 Handstand Push-Ups
  • 7 Thrusters (135/95 lb)
  • 7 Knees-to-Elbows
  • 7 Deadlifts (245/165 lb)
  • 7 Burpees
  • 7 Kettlebell Swings (2/1.5 pood)
  • 7 Pull-Ups

Outside of CrossFIt, what are we likely to find you doing? 

Walking the dogs, watching football/formula 1, Sleeping. (In no particular order)

Favourite Alchemy moment?

Seeing the community come together to support each other at the open every year is always amazing to see 

If you were a superhero, what powers would you want to have?

Wolverine’s healing ability. Who needs recovery time?

 If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
