Tell us about yourself!
I’m a wife, mother and grandmother in my 60’s. I have been lucky enough to be able to take an early retirement after working as an oncology nurse for over 30 years
What got you into CrossFit?
I had absolutely no plans on taking up CrossFit when a friend gave me a free month pass. Brantford Alchemy was just opening so I decided to give it a shot. I was totally surprised by how much I liked it and I’ve been hooked since.
What do you like about Alchemy?
I just love starting my day at Alchemy. It doesn’t matter what my mood and energy are when I arrive. I know that when the workout is over I’m going to be in a good mood.
What has been your proudest moment at Alchemy?
This year’s regatta effort. I thought our team was awesome
What are your CrossFit goals for the future?I feel like I need to work on improving my endurance. Also I’ll just keep plugging along trying to improve my strength
If you could design the perfect workout, what would it include? It would definitely have to have rope climbs and double unders
What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
Physically I’m a lot stronger but I think I’ve noticed a bigger change in my attitude. I’m more likely to try new things and push myself out of my comfort zone
When you’re not at the gym, what’s your favourite thing to do?
I love to spend time gardening. When I’m not puttering around outside I like to work on my weaving projects
And lately I’ve been enjoying rediscovering the area beaches with the grandkids
What’s your favourite local Brantford food spot?
There’s a nice restaurant near us called Fume. I really like the food they serve up
